About Jamilah Barnes

Jamilah has been a successful serial entrepreneur for the past 17+ years. She works as a creative Senior Executive with a proven track record of maximizing results. She has over 23 years of experience in Business Development / Management / Coaching, Digital Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Sponsorship Solicitation, Strategic Partnerships, Entrepreneur Support and Strategy, Event Production & Management, Family Estate Liaison & Advisor and NonProfit Consulting.  Additionally she is a Self-Published Author, TV/Film Producer and most recently, has become the inventor of a new food packaging product that is currently Patent Pending.

Throughout her career, she has forged a number of significant brand partnerships and business deals, including several multi-year/multi-million dollar investment & acquisition opportunities as well as negotiated high-level transactions and presented branding opportunities and ambassadorships to Fortune 500 companies.  She is a high-impact leader who enjoys cultivating relationships and developing new ideas that positively affect the community as well as growth of new and existing businesses. Her tenacity has propelled her to become one of the most successful and influential women in the Multimedia Industry while working with brands such as NBC, BET, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), Roker Media Entertainment, AT&T, McDonald’s, Def Jam Recordings, Universal Music Group, Atlantic Records, Target, Macy’s, Essence Magazine, Hot 97 NYC, Toyota and Hennessey, et al. She is presently working on optioning her self-published memoir, Raised By The Mistress, for a scripted television show.

Prior to launching her own consulting company, Jamilah helped to launch and build AllHipHop.com.  Within her first 3 months at AllHipHop, she had doubled the earnings of the business, and a year later, led the company to make its first $1million dollars in ad sales.  During her tenure with the company for more than a decade, she developed the business’ roster of advertisers - from small independent businesses to notable companies such as Pepsi, Verizon, GM, and Nike.  She helped to grow the business to be worth $17 million dollars at the height of the company’s success.

Her career began when she graduated from a double degree program between the University of Delaware and the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in New York City. While in undergraduate school, she successfully completed a study abroad program at the University of Pretoria, in South Africa which changed her life. Upon graduation from the University of Delaware, Jamilah secured the highly coveted position as Assistant Buyer in Women’s Designer Handbags, at Saks Fifth Avenues corporate offices. And later excelled in the corporate offices of Hugo Boss in NYC before becoming an entrepreneur.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Jamilah graduated from the prestigious engineering high school, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, in 1994, with big dreams and an ambitious spirit.  Today, she lives and works in the New York/New Jersey/Philadelphia area and is often requested to speak on numerous panels, seminars and at schools across the country, regarding entrepreneurship & business management et al.  Most notably, she has spoken at Princeton University and Rutgers University and she’s received her Mini-MBA from Rutgers University, and she is presently studying for her Executive MBA at Temple University. She serves her community as a member of several non-profit organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation.
